ENGLAND'S GOLF COAST

If you are looking for a golf trip which oozes pure links class then a trip to England’s Golf Coast is the one for you! The concentration of exceptional golf is simply amazing. It’s also a trip that doesn’t require lots of travel time as most of the golf courses are within easy reach of the two centres of Liverpool and Southport. We generally recommend flying into Manchester airport (it has direct flights from several US cities) and from there you will be at the first course on your itinerary within an hour.

There are three Open courses, all still on the championship rota, in the area – Royal Liverpool, Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham & St Annes. All three of these are intriguing links challenges. There’s something very special about playing on courses which have such a special place in the game.

But the quality beyond these three courses may be what makes the area so special. Formby is a stunning pine-lined links, Hillside may have the best back nine in the country and Southport & Ainsdale is a James Braid course which has hosted the Ryder Cup. These exceptional links, many Open venues or qualifiers, deliver raw seaside golf amid the dunes and heather.

Accommodation excels in both bases – stylish hotels in Liverpool or elegant seaside options in Southport. English golf may not get as much attention as Scotland or Ireland, but those who visit come back raving about the quality and depth of this special trip.
