Outpost Overseas was founded in 2022 with a simple idea, to create golf journeys with the same care and attention we would want for ourselves.
The company was established by the US based Outpost Club in partnership with Scotland based golf aficionado David Jones, originally to serve the overseas golf travel needs of Outpost Club members. Since then, the business has grown both with members and through their friends and families, as more travellers experienced the way we work and the level of care we bring to each journey.
In September 2024, Outpost Overseas acquired the Scottish tour operator Wilkinson Golf, one of the oldest golf tour operators in the country. As we have grown, we have remained absolutely committed to building a team of people who care deeply about the game of golf, and who combine that passion with strong organisation and people skills. It is this blend of expertise and care that sits behind every journey we create.
Outpost Overseas is built around people who genuinely care about the game of golf and the experiences we can create. The team brings together first hand playing and travel experience across all of our destinations, combined with the planning skills and judgement required to plan our trips.
Every trip we create is shaped by individuals who take pride in getting the details right and who understand what it means to travel a long way to play great golf. It is this shared passion that ensures our guests are are in safe hands from the moment they land at their to destination to when they are dropped off at the airport for their flight home.
David brings a lifelong passion for golf and planning golf trips to every itinerary that Outpost Overseas creates. An 11 handicap golfer, he has played more than 600 courses worldwide, experience that continues to shape his understanding of what makes a great golf journey, both on and off the course.
David founded the UK Golf Guy website, which quickly became a trusted and popular resource for golfers planning trips to Scotland and beyond. Through planning and hosting trips for users of the site, he saw an opportunity to expand this further with the launch of Outpost Overseas.
As Managing Director, David leads the team and sets the strategic direction of the business, while often remaining the first point of contact for guests. He works closely with clients to develop each trip from initial ideas through to a carefully considered itinerary, combining experience, judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
