SUNDAY MAY 28TH

You kick off your tour in style, with a round on the Ailsa course at Turnbery. Ailsa is ranked 18th best golf course in the world by GOLF Magazine. The setting is beautiful, with views of the ocean, cliffs, and Ailsa Craig visible from much of the course. The legendary battle between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson at the 1977 Open Championship (known as the “Duel in the Sun”) is enough in-and-of-itself to secure Turnberry’s place in golf history. The recent, stunning, course changes mean that the Ailsa course a candidate for best in Scotland – high praise indeed

That evening you will stay in the seaside town of Troon at the Marine Hotel. Overlooking the 18th hole of Royal Troon, The Marine is steeped in the tradition of the game and offers excellent accommodation in a wonderful setting.

You will be staying here for three nights and a full Scottish breakfast is included on both mornings.

MONDAY MAY 29TH

Today’s golf is straight outside your window as you will be teeing it up at Royal Troon (ranked 59th in the world). As a nine-time host of the Open Championship, Royal Troon is among the most complete tests of any major venue. Ironically, it is Troon’s wee Postage Stamp eighth hole that may be the most recognized, beloved, and feared hole in links golf. Like so many courses on the west coast the setting is magnificent too - with views over to Ailsa Craig and Arran. With the history, the views and the classic links golf, Royal Troon has all the ingredients for a great day!

TUESDAY MAY 30TH

It’s another short drive today to the wonderful Prestwick. Prestwick is a course soaked in history. It was founded in 1851 when Old Tom Morris laid out a 12 hole course. It was over this course that the first 10 Open Championships were played - and 24 in total. Prestwick is simply a classic Scottish links golf course and one which is a must-play for any fan of the genre. There are few courses in Scotland with more quirks like those you’ll find on Alps, Himalayas and Cardinal.

After the round you have one more night in Troon. We will happily provide restaurant (or pub!) recommendations for your group.

WEDNESDAY MAY 31ST

After breakfast you drive to Fife (approximately 2.5 hours) for your tee time at Kingsbarns (ranked 29th in the world by Outpost members)

It’s hard to believe that Kingsbarns was once a mostly flat piece of land because Mark Parsinen, Kyle Phillips and team did such a masterful job of shaping it that you just assume it’s always been beautiful, natural links land. Taking advantage of the frontage along the North Sea, the course is a wonderful blend of great, strategic golf holes combined with drop-dead, gorgeous views. The inherently modern Kingsbarns is ranked 29th best course in the world by Outpost Club members and is not to be missed on any trip to Fife.

After your round make the short drive into St Andrews. You will be staying for the next four nights at the four star Hotel Du Vin - right in the centre of the town. The fantastic location means you will be able to experience the excitement of this golfing and university town close up.

We would recommend spending some time this evening walking around the town soaking in the atmosphere and maybe stopping off at one of the friendly pubs for a drink and some dinner..

THURSDAY JUNE 1st

You may want to spend this morning exploring St Andrews. Take a historical walking tour of the town, visit the R&A World Golf Museum or just have a putt on the Himalayas.

This afternoon you will play at nearby Crail. Crail is Crail Golfing Society is set on the easternmost edge of the Kingdom of Fife, just 12 miles from St Andrews. Founded in 1786 the club dates back to the very origins of the game. The golf is good fun with gorgeous views over the Firth of Forth. It’s a relatively gentle course compared to some of the others you will play on the trip but one you will remember for a long time.

FRIDAY JUNE 2ND

Today it is another short drive to Elie. When people ask which ‘hidden gem’ they should play on a trip to Fife the answer is simple - Elie ticks all the boxes. Golf has been played in Elie since the 15th century but it was Old Tom Morris who laid out 18 holes in 1895. James Braid was born and bred here and made some changes to his home course in 1921; since then it’s pretty much untouched. You will find a course that rewards guile over brute strength in the most wonderful setting on the south Fife coast

SATURDAY JUNE 3RD

Today you will head the hour’s trip north to Carnoustie (ranked 39th in the world). Mention Carnoustie and most people would think ‘difficult’. Its nickname, “Carnasty,” conjures images of deep rough, dastardly bunkers, and the winding Barry Burn ready to swallow all but the most expertly played shot. And it is an exacting layout, the closing three holes might be the toughest in all of championship golf, but it’s also a strategic masterpiece. With the amazing championship history of this storied links, Carnoustie is an experience not to be missed.

SUNDAY JUNE 4TH

Transfer back to Edinburgh airport for flights home.

All golf with the exception of Crail and Elie has been prebooked. However, we are able to advise on alternative accommodation options should you prefer.
