SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 9TH

Arrive into Edinburgh airport. You will be transferred to Dumbarnie Links - less than an hour from the airport.

Building a new golf course on the Fife coast was not for the faint-hearted. But Clive Clark’s Dumbarnie Links has been greeted with huge praise from locals and visitors alike. The course is a real crowd-pleaser. Wide fairways and fast-running turf means few will feel beaten up on this course. With several half-holes, some glorious green settings and wonderful views over the Firth of Forth, Dumbarnie is proving a worthy addition to the Fife coastline. It’s the perfect first course for your trip.

After the round you will be transferred to the Hotel du Vin in St Andrews. The hotel is in the heart of the old town, with stunning views of the West Sands. The stylish bedrooms and stunning suites, all feature luxuries such as comfy handsprung mattresses and powerful drench showers. Breakfast is included as well as a dinner in the hotel restaurant on one night.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH

Today’s golf is at Elie, about 30 minutes away from St Andrews. When people ask which ‘hidden gem’ they should play on a trip to Fife the answer is simple - Elie ticks all the boxes. Golf has been played here since the 15th century but it was Old Tom Morris who laid out 18 holes in 1895. James Braid was born and bred here and made some changes to his home course in 1921; since then it’s pretty much untouched. You will find a course that rewards guile over brute strength in the most wonderful setting on the south Fife coast.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 11TH

After breakfast you will transfer to Kingsbarns, about 20 minutes away. It’s hard to believe that Kingsbarns was once a mostly flat piece of land because Mark Parsinen, Kyle Phillips and team did such a masterful job of shaping it that you just assume it’s always been beautiful, natural links land. Taking advantage of the frontage along the North Sea, the course is a wonderful blend of great, strategic golf holes combined with drop-dead gorgeous views. The inherently modern Kingsbarns is ranked 29th best course in the world by Outpost Club members and is not to be missed on any trip to Fife.

After the round you will transfer back to St Andrews. You may want to spend the evening exploring the pubs (we can organise a tour if you’d like!) and the history of this wonderful town.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 12TH

After breakfast you will travel to Carnoustie to take on this very special course. Mention Carnoustie (ranked 29th in the world) and most people would think ‘difficult’. Its nickname, “Carnasty,” conjures images of deep rough, dastardly bunkers, and the winding Barry Burn ready to swallow up all but the most expertly played shot. And it is an exacting layout, the closing three holes might be the toughest in all of championship golf, but it’s also a strategic masterpiece. Added to the amazing championship history of this storied links, it’s an experience not to be missed.

After the round you will return to St Andrews for a last evening in the town.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH

This morning you will be transferred to the other side of the Firth of Forth to the golfing village of Gullane. Home to numerous golf courses, Gullane really does live and breathe golf!

You will be staying in The Watchman Hotel which is perfectly situated, right in the centre of the village. It’s just a 1 minute walk from here to the golf course and you will look over the adjoining children’s course.

You will play this afternoon on Gullane Number 1. The course has hosted the Scottish Open on multiple occasions and it’s no wonder the players loved this course as an Open warm up. It’s a classic, fast-running links with holes that will challenge you without beating you up too much. The view from the top of Gullane Hill, on the 7th tee, has been declared by GOLF Magazine to be one of the very best anywhere in the world.

After your round we will happily recommend some dining options in Gullane, or you may just want to explore the three pubs on offer!

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 14TH

Today it is a 2 minute ride to experience one of the truly special days in world golf. 18 holes at Muirfield, followed by the famous lunch and 18 holes of foursome play in the afternoon. Host of fifteen Open Championships, Muirfield (ranked 11th in the world) has long been a favourite of professionals due to its challenge and perceived fairness. You will find beautiful views of the Firth of Forth and strategic bunkering that demands attention on every shot. It’s a day all golfers should experience once in their lives.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 15TH

Your last round of the trip (just a 10 minute drive away) will be at one of the most enjoyable courses anywhere on the planet. North Berwick (ranked 39th in the world) is loaded with quirk and unique character and just might be the most fun golf course anywhere. You will find shots over beaches, stone walls and burns. North Berwick has one of the most copied holes in golf (the “Redan” 15th) as well as what might be the most unusual hole in golf (the “Pit” 13th). Few places offer such a fun and unique golfing experience as North Berwick.

After your round have a drink in the clubhouse, overlooking the 18th green and then return to Gullane for the last night of your Scottish adventure.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 16TH

Transfer back to Edinburgh airport for flights home.
